Many of us know of high school football players who run track in the off-season to stay in shape and stay competitive. We may not see indoor ski jumping, but we see aerial skiers practicing over water in the summertime, and softball and baseball players hit the batting cages year-round. There may indeed be seasons for sports – skiing in winter, football in the fall, basketball in the spring – but when it comes to training, most sports last all year long as athletes look to the off-season to up their game.

What Sport is Played Indoors?

We have named a few but it turns out there is an entire industry built around indoor sports.

Initially, indoor sport training facilities came into play to account for inclement weather, but today they have become as popular as bowling alleys or arcades. The indoor sports facility management industry has made its way onto the center court in the U.S. and is worth $1.5 billion.

Name just about any sport that is played outdoors, and you can find an equivalent indoor training facility, even golf and water sports.

Denver Indoor Sports

Colorado is known for its gorgeous natural resources that include the Rocky Mountains, hot springs, forests, and sand dunes. These beautiful outdoor areas offer a variety of activities including hiking, mountain biking, horse-riding, canoeing, skiing, and snowboarding. These all may sound like outdoor adventures, but except for canoeing, the rest can be practiced as inside sports as well.

Skiing Without Snow?

Let’s take a minute to talk about indoor winter sports in particular. How would you imagine you practice downhill skiing or snowboarding in the middle of summer? Turns out, there is an awesome facility that doesn’t use a rotating belt to try and mimic a mountain. It’s way more sophisticated than that, and that’s why newbies and pros alike practice skiing and snowboarding year-round at an indoor Ski School.
With just a little water, the “snow” that forms on skiing indoor hills (yep…slopes inside!) mimics the way real snow feels on skis and boards when riders are shreddin’. It’s the next best thing to being on the mountain in the middle of winter.

The Pros Approve

Every class, camp, or party that goes down at a Ski School offers ski and snowboard lessons taught by professionally certified ski instructors. They teach every level from the littlest Shredders to private adult lessons. Let’s break it down:

Program Age Range
Yeti Ski School Age 9 mos to 3 years
Little Shredders Ski Lessons Age 3 to 5 years
Ski & Snowboard School Age 5 to 10 years
Open gym Age 9 mos to 10 years
Camps Age 3 to 10 years
Birthday Parties Age 3 to 10 years
Parents Night Out Age 3 to 10 years
Private Lessons Age 10 to adult

So much fun, so much to do for families and all ages. However, let’s get back to off-season conditioning for a second. Indoor Ski School offers something amazing for adults, whether they are athletes training year-round, or parents wanting to stay fit while their kids are in indoor ski class. It’s called Shredder Athletics.

Indoor Sports Conditioning for the Adult Athlete

As if running drills on a 12-foot tall, 50-foot long indoor ski hill isn’t enough, Shredder Ski School also offers adults 60-minute conditioning classes that include dumbbells, medicine balls, sandbags, boxes, cones, and more. Who said you can’t condition at an indoor ski school in the off-season? For competitive skiers and snowboarders, it’s the perfect facility to practice your skills on the hills, as well as a place to bump up your cardio.
Plus, at an Indoot Ski School, you ski in full gear! What good is practicing if you don’t know how it’s going to feel to compete in full clothing, goggles, and helmet? The pros at indoor ski facilities have thought of everything. You can rent equipment year-round, shop for the coolest merch, and stay competition-ready any month, anytime.
