WHAT IS SHREDDER'S FLEXIBLE MAKE-UP POLICY?

For Class Sessions:

  • One (1) Open Make-Up Class will be guaranteed for students enrolled in a session.
  • Each session has designated make-up times for each of the major 3 class types:
    • Yeti School
    • Little Shredders
    • Ski + Snowboard School
  • These make-up options will be shared with you at the beginning of your session and will be visible on your session’s visual schedule on your location’s registration page.
  • To schedule a make-up, you MUST contact your facility’s staff to confirm the DAY and TIME that you will attend, keeping in mind that a make-up cannot be carried over to a later session.
    • Please do not just show up to a make-up time – you must receive confirmation from an instructor before attending to ensure there is sufficient roster space.
    • It is your responsibility to make your agreed-upon make-up time.

WHAT IS SHREDDER'S REFUND + CREDIT POLICY?

CLASSES

Refunds will not be considered for missing individual classes during a session. It is your responsibility to attend the classes during the session you enrolled for, or to attempt to schedule make-up classes PRIOR to the end of your session. For more information on our make-up policy, read the make-up section on this page.

Also, keep in mind that the option to pay in installments will be available for all 10-week Peak Season class sessions (Fall + Winter Sessions).

For all FULL SESSION CLASS ENROLLMENTS:

  • If you elect to cancel for any reason prior to your 3rd scheduled class during your enrolled session, you may select one of the following options:
    • Full cash refund for remaining, unattended classes
    • Full credit value amount for remaining, unattended classes
  • If you elect to cancel for any reason at or following your 3rd scheduled class of your enrolled session, you may select one of the following options
    • Full credit value amount for remaining, unattended classes^
  • If classes are delayed due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e. nationwide pandemic), you will have the following option
    • Full credit value amount for remaining, unattended classes

    Notes:

Credit value will be retained in a dollar amount instead of a per-class amount. This credit can be used for any Shredder programs that are offered at your facility.

^Unattended classes include the number of remaining classes in your enrollment. This does not include any missed classes prior to the cancellation date, as these would fall under the “make-up class” category.

In signing up for classes, you are agreeing to follow our refund policy as we have outlined it. If you have any questions, concerns or special circumstances, feel free to reach out to your local Shredder to discuss further.

SHOULD I DROP-OFF OR SHOULD I STAY WITH MY SKIER/SNOWBOARDER DURING CLASS OR CAMP? CAN I WATCH THEM?

We strongly encourage parents to drop-off their Shredders for CLASSES to help them become comfortable with independence while skiing and snowboarding.
*This does not apply to parent-child programs like Yeti School and open gyms.

All CAMPS (both half-day and full-day) are drop-off programs. Parents are to leave and return for pick-up at the end of their camp session!

In nearly all facilities, the ability to watch class from the lobby is limited. We appreciate your respect for the space between the students and spectators during class – this is intentional for kiddos to form a relationship with their instructors and to help them focus on the lesson! We are ok with children occasionally fussing during class, but if it ever gets to a point where it is disruptive for the child or others in the class, we will choose to come to the parent for assistance. Otherwise, we appreciate separation so that students can maintain focus throughout the class.

For the final 5 minutes of class, we’ll sometimes permit parents to move to a place where they can safely observe the remainder of class. This is optional and dependent on the week’s lesson, but can be an opportunity to watch or to take pictures/videos.

If you have any questions or concerns about dropping off your child or staying for the duration of the lesson, feel free to contact us and we will happily work with you to find a good solution.

WHAT IS SHREDDER'S INCLEMENT WEATHER POLICY?

Each Shredder location uses the local school district’s delay and cancellation policies as guidance on closure decisions. However, each Shredder location’s Gym Director will make final decisions for their facility regarding closures.

We encourage students to check the Announcement Box at the top of their location’s registration page (select location here), an update to our Instagram Story, and/or an email from your Shredder location to the primary email contact for all enrolled children in the cancelled program.

Regardless, please always use your own discretion when traveling to our programs! We can work with you to schedule a make-up, whenever necessary.

WHAT MATERIAL DOES SHREDDER USE FOR THE INDOOR SURFACE?

We use Xtreme, manufactured by Grassworx. We lightly spray this turf material with water for our classes. The combination of water and wax will enable skiers and snowboarders to “slip” (to travel down the surface) and “to grip” (for turning and stopping) down our different features. Artificial snow surfaces are used all over the world, including places throughout Europe, Asia, Australia, and the US. This material enables skiers and snowboarders to learn or practice year round and allows a variety of different people to have access to these great sports.

DOES LEARNING ON ARTIFICIAL SNOW HAVE ANY NEGATIVE IMPACT ON SKIING OR RIDING ON REAL SNOW?

Absolutely not! In fact, most clients have expressed that it is much easier to ski or ride on the mountain after they had learned or practiced on the artificial snow. The material catches the edges of the skis and snowboards very easily, making it much easier to practice the proper technique. In addition, being able to practice skiing or riding year-round will help strengthen skills and technique for when you’re ready to hit the slopes.

WHAT SHOULD MY CHILD BRING TO SHREDDER?

All gear is included when you enroll in a Shredder program. However, due to recent sanitary requirements, we are requesting that all students bring their own helmet. This can be ANY type of helmet e.g. it does not need to be mountain-sport specific (bike helmets are welcome!). We will have our helmets available for use should your child NOT have a helmet; if a child must use our helmet, we will sanitize after use and set aside for at least a 2-hour period.

If you prefer to bring some or all of your kiddo’s own gear (i.e. skis, boots), you may. We recommend students wear comfortable or athletic clothing, such as shorts/leggings and long or short sleeved t-shirts.

We also please ask that kids have socks for all programs! This ensures comfort while in boots and also while walking/playing in the facility, as sometimes kiddos can find our turf material to feel odd on their bare feet.

For parents participating in the Yeti classes, we encourage you all to wear comfortable clothes, as well! You will be asked to help lift and move your kiddo, and you likely will be walking up/down our slopes. Closed-toe shoes are recommended since you will be helping your kiddo move around in boots, skis, and snowboards.

While instructors work to avoid any serious falls during classes, occasional tumbles do occur and are major parts of the sports of skiing and snowboarding. If you feel your child would be more comfortable with elbow/knee pads or guards, light gloves, or other forms of protection, they are welcome to bring them; however, Shredder does not provide these items. This note is especially relevant for snowboarders, who tend to tumble more often when learning.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO CAMPS?

For Half-Day camps, we ask that you pack your child a snack and a water bottle.

For Full-Day camps, we ask that you pack your child a lunch, 2 snacks, and a water bottle.

All ski and snowboard gear is included and free for use during camps! If your child has any additional books, games, or crafts he/she would like to bring to camp, they are more than welcome to!

WHAT ARE PACKS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

Packs are a flexible option to purchase multiple drop-in programs in bulk, typically offering a pricing discount for a bulk purchase!

You can register for an applicable activity and the pack spot will automatically be deducted from your account. There are two ways to purchase a pack on the customer-side: you can follow the “packs” button in the relevant activity section of your location‘s registration page OR you can add them to your cart and purchase them in flow when you are registering for an eligible program.

Essentially, if a program has the option for a pack (typically these are just camps, open gyms, and/or private lessons), the pack option will present itself on that program’s registration page when adding to your cart.

Some packs have an expiration date while others may have no expiration; pay attention to any conditions when purchasing! If you have questions, please contact your location directly.

WHAT SLOPES ARE AVAILABLE FOR USE?

The size and number of slopes will vary between Shredder locations. Typically, a Shredder facility will include a large slope (10-12 feet tall, 42-47 feet long), a medium slope (4-8 feet tall, 22-26 feet long), and sometimes a small slope (3 feet tall, 10 feet long).

Please contact your Shredder location of interest for more details.

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TYPICAL CLASS?

Class organization and structure varies depending on the class size and type. Typically, ski and snowboard classes are broken down into groups based on ability level and the sport they are practicing. Once the class begins, each group will rotate stations throughout the gym to work on various skills and techniques with an instructor. Depending on the ability levels and class size, stations usually include practicing techniques on the slope(s) and working on athletic development and mountain knowledge in our backroom.

For more information about our classes, feel free to read their specific class descriptions here.

CAN MY CHILD BEGIN AFTER A SESSION HAS BEGUN?

Yes, you can enroll for classes at anytime during any session and prorate the cost, assuming there is space available. Please contact your Shredder location to discuss prorate options.

WHAT IS SHREDDER'S OPEN GYM OPTION?

Shredder’s Open Gym is a time to practice and reinforce the fundamentals of skiing and snowboarding with the assistance of a parent/adult. Please visit our Open Gyms page for more information regarding each location’s times and policies!

HOW MUCH DO SHREDDER PROGRAMS COST?

Please visit our Pricing Overview page to see our typical pricing structure for our various programs. Please keep in mind that exact pricing may vary between locations. With additional questions, please contact us.

DO INDOOR SKI/SNOWBOARD LEVELS CORRESPOND WITH LEVELS AT THE RESORTS?

Yes! Our indoor curriculum is based on PSIA-AASI principles, so the skill progressions we look for in our students are very comparable to lessons on the slopes!

WHAT WILL HAPPEN IF A STUDENT OR STAFF MEMBER TESTS POSITIVE FOR COVID-19?

Each Shredder location has a direct contact in their county’s municipal health department. Should an attendee test positive for COVID-19, we will contact the health department and follow all suggested protocols. We will communicate any program updates or steps with enrollees.

Providing a safe Shredder environment will require a partnership with you all, our Shredder families. Please do not attend Shredder if your child is ill. We recommend referencing this document for at-home symptom screening before attending a Shredder program: CDPHE COVID-19 Guidance, “Can I go to school today?”
